ARAGÓN ROARS INTO ROUND SIX OF THE SEASON

Puig-supported teams continue scoring points in WorldSBK and Supersport

The legendary MotorLand Aragón circuit, located near the motorcycle-loving city of Alcañiz, hosted the sixth round of the FIM Superbike World Championship (WorldSBK) this past weekend.

Puig was present as a technical partner in both the premier Superbike class and the Supersport category during a weekend marked by high temperatures. With readings close to 30 degrees Celsius, riders had to cope with more demanding conditions than usual for this time of year.

At the bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team, Alex Lowes and Axel Bassani once again demonstrated their competitiveness. Although neither rider reached the podium this time, both delivered solid performances that allowed them to continue collecting valuable championship points.

Alex Lowes, currently fourth in the overall standings, crossed the finish line in fourth place in both Race 1 and Race 2. Meanwhile, Axel Bassani showed strong progression throughout the weekend, finishing eighth in the opening race before improving to an impressive fifth place in Race 2. The Italian rider currently sits seventh in the championship standings.

In the Superpole Race, Lowes finished fifth and Bassani sixth, further highlighting the potential of the bimota KB998 Rimini, a machine that continues to evolve and find its place on the grid.

After the race, Axel Bassani reflected positively on his performance: “If I had to choose my best race today, I would be happier with the Superpole Race because that type of situation is not usually one of my strengths. But today we had a really solid race and I enjoyed a nice battle with Alex during the opening laps. I really enjoyed the sprint race and the pace was strong.”

Staying within the Kawasaki family, Garrett Gerloff of the Kawasaki WorldSBK Team completed a weekend of steady improvement. The American rider finished ninth in Race 1 before securing two valuable sixth-place finishes in both the Superpole Race and Race 2, demonstrating strong determination and consistency.

In the Supersport category (WorldSSP), GMT94 Yamaha Team rider Roberto García enjoyed one of his strongest weekends of the season. The Spanish rider finished fourth in both Race 1 and Race 2, narrowly missing out on a podium finish. The results underline the team's constant progress as it moves ever closer to the front-running positions.

Meanwhile, the TECMAS Racing Team, with Kenny Foray aboard the BMW M1000RR, enjoyed a strong weekend by securing third place in both races. The French rider once again showcased his experience and consistency on track, remaining firmly in contention for the leading positions throughout the event. These results further underline the competitive level of the five-time France Superbike champion, who continues to be one of the benchmark riders in the category and a regular contender for podium finishes.

With the first half of the championship now completed, the battle for points is entering a decisive phase. Every round becomes increasingly important, and Puig-supported teams continue to show that they are ready to fight for even more ambitious goals.

All eyes will now be on the upcoming rounds to see whether this upward trend can ultimately be transformed into more podium finishes.
