Puig-supported riders celebrate well-deserved podiums after months of hard work and progress
The Misano Marco Simoncelli circuit hosted the sixth round of the WorldSBK this past weekend. In the Tissot Superpole, the qualifying session that sets the grid for Race 1 and Sunday’s Superpole Race, Axel Bassani (#47) secured a front-row start. This result was especially meaningful for Bimota, marking the first time in 35 years that one of their bikes started from the front row, since Pergusa 1989. Alex Lowes (#22) finished 5th in the overall classification, just behind his twin brother, Sam Lowes.
On Sunday, despite the hot and humid weather, Bimota shone again. In the Superpole Race — the 10-lap sprint race that defines the front part of the Race 2 grid — Alex Lowes earned his first podium since Jerez 2024, also giving Bimota its first WorldSBK podium since the year 2000.
Both Alex Lowes and Axel Bassani have proven that the team has the potential to compete among the best, and Misano may mark the beginning of a new chapter for the historic Italian brand. The next round of the championship will take place on July 11–13 at the legendary Donington Park circuit, a key test to consolidate this promising progress.
